The market's widest range of steel and metals
Tibnor stocks cold-drawn flats in grade S235JRC +C. S235 is a low-carbon structural steel with excellent weldability which implies that welding can in most cases be accomplished without the need for pre-heat. The highest permitted level of carbon equivalent is 0.35 % for all dimensions.
Grade S235 in cold-drawn execution, symbolised by the addendum “+C”, is standardised in SS-EN 10277 - 2. The (discontinued) SS-designation is 1312 - 06. The minimum prescribed level of yield strength for cold-drawn flats in steel S235JRC varies depending on thickness over the range
355 - 215 MPa. The interval for tensile strength decreases and the minimum allowed elongation in a tensile test increases somewhat as the flat-bar thickness increases. There is no guarantee for impact toughness
Tolerances for S235JRC flats in cold drawn execution are good, level h11 as defined in ISO 286 - 2 applies for both width and thickness. Furthermore, straightness is somewhat better than for hot-rolled flats and following SS-EN 10278, the maximum height of arc is 0.0015 to 0,0025 times bar length, the actual figure which applies depending on bar width and thickness.
If the application requires that the part has a wear-resistant surface, S235 responds well to case hardening.
